My mobile phone provider is AT&T Wi....no, Cing.....No, AT&T Wireless

One of the odd side-effects of the recent acquisition of BellSouth by AT&T is that Cingular is apparently going to be re-branded AT&T Wireless.
This comes about 18 months after Cingular deep-sixed the AT&T Wireless brand when Cingular acquired the old AT&T Wireless.
And the new AT&T, of course, is the old SBC, which merged with the old AT&T last year and killed the SBC brand. My head is spinning just trying to write it all down. You can't blame the consumer if she has a hard time keeping track of which company to send her monthly payment to.
AT&T is, apparently, The Brand That Wouldn't Die. As for myself, I keep waiting for someone to mercy-kill Qwest and bring back Northwestern Bell.
But it doesn't seem to be happening.
