Shortage of Tellers

Tue - July 17, 2007 12:31 PM in

After years of trying to get customers to do all their transactions online or through ATMs, it turns out that the old-fashioned bank teller isn't obsolete after all. In fact, according to today's Wall Street Journal, there's actually a shortage of qualified tellers smart enough to understand their customers' needs and offer appropriate financial products (the WSJ link should work for a week or so).

Apparently it's becoming clear that a personal relationship with another human being is an important part of financial services for a lot of customers. Who would have thunk it?
