In Star Trek: The Next Generation, the android character Data always had trouble taking things people said too literally, which mostly caused him to fail to understand Earth humor--and become the butt of a few jokes himself.
Star Trek: The Next Generation ended in 1994, but apparently Data has a new job decorating cakes at Wal-Mart. At least, that's what I infer from an all-too-literal interpretation of the instruction, "Write on the cake best wishes Suzanne and underneath that we will miss you."
No word on whether Worf, the Klingon security officer, decorated the replacement cake.
